I love Zach Johnsen, I thought the Wanderer series (life size on plywood) was inspiring, especially when seen wandering through snowy fields. He pulls off this pseudo-occult feel to these lovable yet grotesque characters. It's like delicious roadkill, but visually.
Another artist who pulls off that lovable occult feel (but in a more folksy way) is Katy Horan. For some reason these two artists are linked in my mind ... must be that shared allusion to mysticism.
