Phoenix Cover and Other Lovely Things

Hey guys, I haven't been around for a bit. I was visiting the wonderful Jared Flynn up in Maine. I had the best time ever!!! <3 He's fantastic. :)

This past week, I was on the cover of the Boston, Providence, and Portland Phoenix. I've gotten a lot of comments about my work, and I'm really happy to have gotten the chance to do another cover. It's a little more racy than the rest of my portfolio, but that's cool with me! It gets people talking. ;)

Tomorrow night is also the Artist's Talk for the Space 242 show. Andy Fish, Veronica Hebard, Lindsay Small and I will be talking about our processes for our art and answering questions. Visit www.space242.com for more details and to RSVP! Hope to see you there!

Aside from that, I'm getting ready for my Pet Monsters Show at 1301 Boylston Street on August 7th. I have to make a bunch of paintings asap! Yikes! But it's going to rock! I'm really looking forward to it. I'm planning on putting this piece in:

I also still have paintings available for sale in my last post here. I'm
also available for custom work as well!
(Those kitty paintings went quick!)

Happy Days and Gloomy Bears

Jared is a good picture-taker. <3>
As of this past weekend, I got the hell out of Boston and went to visit my wonderful boyfriend in Maine. We made wontons from scratch, braved giant hills with many heavy grocery bags, swung on swings next to a beach covered in snow, watched the Pagemaster (along with a few other sweet movies), ate a lot of chocolate cheesecake, had a girlfriend-meet-mum-and-dad day, went to an old school toy store, saw the Watchmen with Kori <3 and Eric and Peter, and he surprised me one day by leaving work early and following me around town and scaring me! (I had thought he was a crazy homeless man following me for a second until he made himself known, haha.)

All in all, good times. Here are a couple of pictures documenting my lovely time.

Cake eaters! <3Wonton Soup!
Handsome devil.
Aside from that, I finished my FIRST FLYER for Modus Lotus!!! I'll post that here tomorrow when I have permission. (I also don't want it to get lost among all these other pictures.) I'm really happy Veronica likes it, especially since it took me so long to get it done! (+3 late jerk points)

I also aquired a lot of things today, especially clothing:
-free waffles for dinner
-6 free scratch tickets (of which two were winners, by not much)
-a 5" x 7" nice portfolio
-a Gelly Roll glitter pen
-3 free Marilyn Manson shirts
-1 $.50 System of a Down shirt
-2 free NIN shirts
-1 free Tool shirt
-a sweatshirt from my mum and another cute shirt
-a free Mindless Self Indulgence sweatshirt
-a free giant Gloomy Bear poseable toy!!!!

I'm so lucky to have friends who work at Hot Topic. :D Thanks Britteny and Ricky!

All in all, life is looking up. The weekend was my saving grace, and I couldn't have had a better time. Now I'm off to finish getting my degree!

Portland adventures.

I went to Maine this past weekend to visit the very lovely Jared, and we had a very lovely time. We went sledding in a blizzard, made delicious food, went out for more delicious food, watched some badass movies, and generally had the most wonderful time I've had in a long time. I got to meet quite a few of his close friends, and they were all awesome. And I got to see the lights I've been dying to see in Portland for at least a couple of years now - they were lovely. <3

All in all, Jared is one of the best people I've ever met. He's been kind, and supportive, and he loves my art, and he went out of his way to really make me feel special this weekend. And his mum's Indonesian meatball soup is to die for. *drool* So I can't wait to see him again, and I feel like things truly are looking up for me lately with his help. <3

Still in Maine.

We got some MAD snow yesterday, and it's trying to destroy the whole town and my precious Californian skin.

I have met so many wonderful people since I've been staying at Jared's, and I can honestly say I haven't enjoyed myself so much in quite a while. It's going well with the good streak I've been having, with the Pop Euphoria show, and Detour, and my family getting closer, and my view of myself as a person and an artist becoming more positive by the day.

Things are looking up for this little girl. Better update later. And lots of pictures!

Going on a trip!

Third weekend in December, I'll be bouncing around Portland, Maine, spending some much-needed time with great friends, including Jared. Jared's always been wonderful to me (except that time he cheated on me and we broke up :P), but he's still one of the few men in my life who are genuinely concerned with my progress and always have something supportive to say. So we'll have some Brandy and watch Hedwig and the Angry Inch and catch up, and it will be a good time to get away after final reviews.

Go check out the movie Jared worked on and won the 2008 Audience Choice Award for here!

Doing some freelance work - not sure what yet, but hopefully something simple that I can complete without schoolwork killing me. Might even be doing some promo stuff for Chaos Before Creation (a local band from the south shore), so we'll see if anything comes of that.

I also did a couple of sketches on the train today. Here they are if you want to check them out.
